Erbud for safety on sites

Construction safety week has begun - joint initiative of building companies.

Over the period of 18-24 May, Erbud runs the campaign "Safety Week" on construction sites. The aim is to draw attention of the construction staff to the culture and occupational safety and to reduce accidents on sites. The campaign is a joint initiative of ten largest building companies within the group “Agreement for Construction Safety”. This year’s watchword sounds: "Safety - common cause". This is the biggest safety-related project on the Polish market.

As part of the "Safety Week" each company participating in the Agreement for Construction Safety will carry out a number of educational events on its sites. Planned are demonstrations of personal protective equipment, high-altitude rescue, practical exercise/use of fire extinguishers, evacuation from the site, workshops on handling power tools, and training in first aid.
The action is also joined by: General Labour Inspector, National Labour Inspectorate, Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians, Trade Union "Budowlani", Polish Association of Construction Employers, as well as the Secretariat of Building and Woodworkers’ Union “NSZZ Solidarność”.

Safety at work is a key issue for the entire industry. This is one of the important factors that determines the success of any construction project. Through this initiative, we organize collectively, we want to increase among employees and subcontractors awareness on safety and its fundamental importance in their daily work - says Bartosz Wisniewski, Head of the OH&S Dept. in the ERBUD Group.

Under this action Erbud conducts a number of activities in which are involved sites, workshops, service units and offices. To pay attention to the safety rules and promote good health and safety practices, among others we will demonstrate firefighting along with evacuations from buildings, train in safe installation of formwork systems and safe Hydraulic Crane Truck unloading. "Safety Week" is conducted in 72 locations of the ERBUD Group.

We have planned actions and activities that are designed to make the workers aware of the scale of threats on construction sites and affect their behaviour in the workplace, including use of PPE. We are committed to shape the safety culture not only among Erbud’s staff, but also among our subcontractors - emphasizes Bartosz Wiśniewski.
