ERBUD Group completed a pioneering investment for the PGE Group

The construction tycoon has commissioned Poland’s first boiler house equipped with electrode boilers. The technological solutions applied in PGE Energia Ciepła Heating Plant in Gdańsk enable the optimal use of available resources, and in the future will allow the use of clean electricity from renewable sources.

- Construction of the boiler house in Gdańsk perfectly corresponds to our business model, an important element of which is the implementation of the climate strategy associated with the European Green Deal. Being the leader of energy transformation in this part of Europe is ERBUD Group’s aspiration. With the commissioning of the boiler house in Gdańsk, we have reached an important milestone in this direction. Not the only one - which is worth reminding. In October ERBUD - as the first large construction company together with ONDE - leader in the execution of the RES industry in Poland, with over 3GW of wind and solar energy generated - received EMAS certificate, the highest EU distinction in the field of ecology. ERBUD effectively contributed to the reduction of its carbon footprint, which resulted in 61.03 percent annual reduction of emissions intensity as well as the first place in the ranking “Climate Leaders Poland 2022” of the “Forbes” Magazine. – states Dariusz Grzeszczak, CEO of ERBUD S.A.

The commissioned boiler house consists, among others, of two oil-gas boilers of 30 MWt each and two electrode boilers of 35 MWt each. The technology based on a combination of electrode and oil boilers, and eventually gas boilers, will enable a prompt response to the fluctuating demand for heat in the power range from 2.5 to 130 MWt and will make it possible to start operation of the boiler house in just a few minutes.

- This is a huge success of the ERBUD Group. Firstly, we are commissioning a heat and power plant using unique and pioneering pro-ecological solutions on the Polish market. We managed to complete a comprehensive and complex investment according to schedule, both in terms of technology and logistics. Let me remind you that from the very beginning, we have struggled with the difficulties posed by the pandemic, including changing regulations on maintaining a sanitary regime, quotas of workers sent to quarantine. Nonetheless, at peak times there were as many as 200 people working on the site. – emphasises Radosław Górski, Member of the Management Board of ERBUD S.A.

The implementation of the investment, which lasted 24 months from the signing of the contract, amounted to over PLN 80 million net. The residents of Gdańsk and Sopot will be able to use the heat produced in the new boiler house as soon as this heating season.
