MOD21 aims at zero

MOD21, a company of the ERBUD Group, has reduced its carbon footprint with regard to electricity to zero.

A total of 500 MWh per year will be generated by photovoltaic panels just installed on the roof of the MOD21 factory. The plant has also signed an agreement with Ekovoltis, a supplier of renewable energy. As a result, the wood module manufacturer has reduced its carbon footprint with regard to electricity to zero and gained significant savings.

The construction sector accounts for 40 percent of global CO2 emissions, thus its transformation plays a key role in meeting Europe's climate goals. Wood modular construction fits perfectly in this strategy.

– Our business is highly environmentally friendly by design. This is because prefabrication makes it possible to reduce the time needed to construct and finish buildings by about 70 percent. At the same time, the entire process significantly reduces CO2 emission compared to conventional construction methods. In addition, the modules can be dismantled, refurbished and reused or recycled, in line with the idea of a circular economysays Bartosz Wiśniewski, Vice President of MOD21. – We, however, wanted to go a step further and switch completely to green energyexplains Bartosz Wiśniewski.

Since entering the market, MOD21 has successfully completed five modular projects in the education and social sectors. This trend continued in the first eight months of this year as well, with the volume of orders worth about 40 million EUR. Six more projects are already at the planning stage.

By the end of the year, the entire ERBUD Group wants to use exclusively renewable energy. Thanks to cooperation with Ekovoltis, all construction sites of ERBUD will be supplied with green energy. ERBUD is therefore the first Polish company to completely abandon conventional energy sources on construction sites.

Since 2021 ERBUD has been included in the prestigious EMAS register which is the EU's highest distinction in the field of ecology. Additionally, in 2021 ERBUD took first place in Forbes magazine's “Climate Leaders” ranking, and in 2023, it ranked third among all companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in the “Climate Conscious Companies” ranking made by the Association of Stock Exchange Issuers.
