ERBUD Group is handing over a new hospital. Silesian Centre for Heart Diseases with a modern clinical and research centre

The Prof Zbigniew Religa Silesian Clinical and Research Centre for the Prevention and Treatment of Environmental, Civilisation and Ageing Diseases was officially opened in Zabrze. The investment, amounting to PLN 107.7 million (net), was implemented by leading Polish construction group - ERBUD.

– The construction of medical infrastructure is ERBUD’s spécialité de la maison, which is something I am personally proud of. Today we are handing over one of the most up-to-date clinical and research centres in Europe. The location of the hospital is special in the history of Polish medicine - the building, named A+, was constructed in the immediate vicinity of the legendary Building A, where the first heart transplant in our country was performed. The timing of the investment was also remarkable, coinciding with the pandemic and the outbreak of war in Ukraine. Despite these unprecedentedly adverse circumstances, we delivered the project under schedule and on budget. This is clear proof that we have the expertise to build hospitals – emphasises Jacek Leczkowski, Vice-President of ERBUD S.A.

The development of the Prof. Zbigniew Religa Silesian Clinical and Research Centre for the Prevention and Treatment of Environmental, Civilisation and Ageing Diseases was implemented under the “design and build” formula in the period 23.09.2019 - 23.02.2022, for a total amount of PLN 107.7 million (net). The building features five floors with a net floor area of 12,500 m2. The clinical and research centre is equipped to treat 124 patients and has 6 treatment rooms with one of the most modern angiographs in Poland. The building incorporates a number of advanced installations, including a pneumatic post, which connected the three buildings, a photovoltaic installation with a capacity of more than 200 kW, heat pumps supplying underfloor heating, and a BMS installation to monitor and control the temperature in each room.

Hospital construction projects are a special category in ERBUD’s portfolio. A leading construction group recently signed contracts for the redevelopment of the Independent Public Health Care Facility (SPZOZ) in Kraśnik and the Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. 2 PUM in Szczecin. In February 2021, ERBUD S.A. together with Strabag Sp. z o.o. commissioned the Southern Hospital in Warsaw.

ERBUD’s credits also include the construction of the Centre for Invasive Medicine in Gdańsk and the Cape of Hope in Wrocław, the expansion of the Municipal Hospital Complex in Chorzów, the modernisation of the Ludwik Rydygier Specialist Hospital in Kraków and the Public Clinical Hospital No. 4 in Lublin, as well as the construction (core & shell) of the Kortrijk Hospital in Belgium. During the implementation of the thermomodernisation of the Ludwik Rydygier Specialist Hospital in Kraków, ERBUD incorporated unique technical and functional solutions (patent pending), resulting in additional savings of almost 300,000 KWh per year.
